Top Four Healthy Hair Tips for the New Year

You are what your hair decides that you are. Or are you? Then again, we are the ones that are in control of our hair, even if it does not seem as such on certain days. And we would be fooling ourselves if we were to ever say that our hair does not dictate – in at least some way, shape or form – the way that we feel about ourselves on any given day. A “bad hair day” can greatly impact our overall self confidence, and can make us feel less beautiful. With this in mind, it’s time to strike back at bad hair. It’s time to take control during the New Year. These following hair tips should greatly aid you all.

  1. Avoid brushes with plastic bristles. Natural boar bristles are great for dry hair, and rubber toothed can be excellent for damp hair.
  2. Brush before you wash your hair. Speaking of hair brushes, make sure to brush out product buildup and stimulate blood flow to the scalp using a few even strokes before you hop in the shower.
  3. Be gentle with wet hair. Wet hair can experience easier breakages, especially if you have already thin or thinning hair. So take care of your hair when brushing it when wet. Use a wide toothed comb on wet hair and then switch to your normal brush once it’s dry.
  4. Deep condition your hair twice per month. This will allow for the moisturizer to better reach the shafts, and by using a blow dryer afterwards, you can open up the cuticles of the hair to better receive moisture delivery, too.
